CRC 1648 - 1st Pandemic Preparedness Symposium 2025

On June 18, 2025, the CRC 1648 hosted its first Symposium on "Pandemic Preparedness: Breaking Barriers in Virology and Immunity by Learning from Emerging Viruses" at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), which Maya Topf co-organised.

The CRC 1648 "Emerging Viruses: Pathogenesis, Structure, Immunity" is an interdisciplinary research consortium funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since July 2024. Based at the UKE, the consortium unites 26 researchers from nine institutions.

In response to the complex challenges posed by pandemic events, the symposium brought together professionals, researchers, and interested individuals from various disciplines. During the event, participants presented and discussed research findings and innovative strategies aimed at improving our ability to respond to future health crises.

The symposium served as a platform for dynamic exchange and networking, enabling participants to foster collaboration across institutions and areas of expertise.
