Every year in Germany, students participate in Girls' and Boys' Day: a nationwide initiative designed to challenge traditional gender roles and encourage young people to explore career paths outside the norm. These events typically take place in April and are open to students from 5th grade onwards. They offer hands-on experiences and insights into industries where their gender is typically underrepresented.
This year, for the first time, CSSB opened its doors to girls and boys interested in science. 25 young participants took a look inside our laboratories, learned how we study viruses and bacteria, and how scientists work on the development of vaccines and treatments. A small introduction to the world of microbiology.
